Ivrea is famous for its Carnival and for the “ Battaglia delle arance” (Battle of Oranges), whose origins come from Middle Age legends and from more recent Napoleon’s occupation. Ivrea’s castle with its “ Rosse Torri” (Red Towers) was celebrated by Giosuè Carducci in his “Ode al Piemonte” (Ode to Piedmont).
